PMP® Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for taking the PMP® Exam, you must meet certain minimum educational and professional qualifications. All the project management experience accumulated must be in the last 8 years, prior to applying for the exam.

1- Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or global equivalent) Minimum five years/60 months unique non-overlapping Professional project management experience during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing the project.

2- 35 hours of project management education


1- Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent) Minimum three years/36 months unique non-overlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing the project

2- 35 hours of project management education

The certification exam has 200 multiple-choice questions, and you have four hours to complete it.

To maintain your PMP®, you must earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years.
